Your pre-launch check
ETIAS will likely apply to your trip
With ETIAS expected to be mandatory for visa-exempt travellers from 2027 onwards, plan to apply through the official EU system before you travel. We’ll email you when applications open.

How we work this out
ETIAS will apply to short-stay travel into the Schengen area (plus Norway, Cyprus and a few others) for visa-exempt nationalities. EU, EEA and Swiss passport holders don’t need ETIAS — they use free movement. UK passport holders won’t need ETIAS for Ireland under the Common Travel Area. Ireland is not in Schengen at all, so ETIAS doesn’t apply.
This page does not give legal advice. Always check the official EU ETIAS page before booking or travelling.
