Official ETIAS application route
Once the system goes live, the only place to obtain an ETIAS will be the EU’s official website and app:
How to recognise the official EU site
- It is hosted on an EU domain, typically a europa.eu address.
- It charges the official €20 fee, with no hidden costs.
- It is available in all EU languages.
- It issues most decisions within minutes once you can apply.
- It never uses urgency, countdowns or “apply now” pressure before launch.
Is ETIAS open yet?
No. ETIAS is expected to launch in the last quarter of 2026, with a transition period before it becomes mandatory at the border. That means nobody can issue ETIAS today, not the EU, not a private service, not anyone. If a website is currently taking ETIAS applications, that is by definition not legitimate.
How to spot fake ETIAS websites
Even before launch, copycat websites are appearing. Warning signs to watch for:
- Trying to take applications now. No website can legitimately issue ETIAS before the official system opens.
- EU flag, yellow stars or government crests in branding. Official EU sites do appear official; private sites that imitate that look are trying to mislead you.
- Use of the word “Official” or “Government”. Private sites should never use these.
- Fees significantly higher than €20 without a clearly separated service fee. The EU fee is €20; anything else is a private add-on and should be transparent.
- Asking for passport details before ETIAS opens. There is no reason for any legitimate service to collect this today.
- Urgent “apply now” countdowns. ETIAS isn’t open, so urgency before launch is manufactured.
Can private companies help with ETIAS?
Yes. Once ETIAS opens, the EU rules allow a third party (a family member, friend or a commercial intermediary) to fill in and submit the form on someone else’s behalf, as long as the traveller understands what is being submitted and any separate service fee. That’s the legal basis for any private ETIAS assistance service, including ETIAS Pro’s planned future product.
How ETIAS Pro works
Today, ETIAS Pro is an information site and launch-alert service. We don’t take ETIAS applications, we don’t charge anything, and we don’t ask for passport details. We will email you once when the official system opens.
After launch, ETIAS Pro plans to offer an assisted ETIAS application, entirely optional, with clearly disclosed service fees, and on top of (not instead of) the official €20 EU fee.

Apply directly vs optional support
Most travellers will apply directly through the EU system. That route is always available, and it is what we point people toward by default. Optional private support exists for travellers who specifically want it.
Official route vs optional private support
You, the traveller
Official EU route
Apply directly on the official EU site for the €20 fee. The simplest, lowest-cost option, and the one we point to by default.
Optional private support
Use a service like ETIAS Pro for help with the form or a family group, for a separate, clearly disclosed fee.
The official EU ETIAS system
Every ETIAS is issued by the EU. Private support never replaces it, it only helps with the application.
Before launch vs after launch
What the official route looks like changes once the system opens. For the warning signs of a fake site in detail, see ETIAS scams.
The official ETIAS route before and after launch

Official ETIAS website FAQs
How can I avoid fake ETIAS websites?
Before ETIAS opens, no website can issue ETIAS, full stop. Be cautious of sites using EU branding, flags, or “official” wording, or asking for payment or passport details now. The only official application route will be the EU site at travel-europe.europa.eu/etias.
Is ETIAS Pro official?
No. ETIAS Pro is a private information and assistance service. We are not affiliated with the European Union, Frontex or any government. When ETIAS opens, you will be able to apply directly through the official EU ETIAS website or app.
Can I apply directly through the EU?
Yes. When the official ETIAS system opens, every traveller will be able to apply directly through the official EU website or app at travel-europe.europa.eu/etias. Using a private service is always optional.
Why might I use a private ETIAS support service?
Some travellers prefer help with form-filling, managing multiple family applications, reminders for renewal, or a second pair of eyes on details like passport expiry. A private service is optional, and travellers should expect to pay both the official €20 fee and any separate service fee.
How much will ETIAS cost?
The official ETIAS fee is expected to be €20. Travellers under 18 and over 70 are expected to be exempt from the fee, though they will still need an ETIAS. Private services may charge a separate, optional service fee for help with the application.
